STOVE FITTING & UPGRADES TO MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY MODELS
There are many ways to fit a stove, some with the future maintenance and best operation in mind (this is how I work!) and others chucked in with little care for anything other than getting finished and off home.
Being a sweep as well as a fitter I need your stove to perform its best and to last its lifetime without issue.
There are many brands and models of stoves out there to suit almost any budget. I see upto 8 different stoves every day when sweeping, so I get to know their strengths and weaknesses as well as honest feedback from their users.
When choosing your stove it has to be right for you, I will ask many questions when I visit to survey and I’ll assess what will suit your needs best, so you make the right choice first time.
Most often I can supply your chosen stove cheaper than you will find online!!

CHIMNEY SWEEPING
&
STOVE REPAIRS
Annual chimney sweeps are an essential part of keeping you and your home safe!
Sweeping removes soot deposits from the chimney flue to make sure the smoke can exit the house quickly and easily. Most steel flue liners are only 5 or 6 inches in diameter so it doesn’t take a large amount of soot or tar deposit to restrict the flow.
If the flow is restricted this can cause back pressure and cause smoke to spill back into the room through the stoves air inlets.
Smoke from all fuels contains Carbon Monoxide which is odourless and can cause headaches, shortly followed by death in unventilated areas.
Secondly soot and tar deposits are flammable, if you get them hot enough they will ignite, this can cause just a few problems to say the least!
All chimney sweeps include a stove safety check, anything dangerous will be highlighted with recommendations on repairs required.
After your sweep you will be issued with a certificate from “The National Association of Chimney Sweeps”, this serves as proof of your “regular maintenance” required by many Home Insurance providers.

CHIMNEY MAINTENANCE
&
DRONE SURVEYS
Chimney pots, caps and cowls don't last forever, they really do get the full force of the elements being the highest point on your house. From time to time you may need a new bird guard, cap or pot fitting to keep your chimney working at its best and keep the winter weather from finding its way inside. During Spring the birds are looking for a place to bring up their chicks, make sure you have a bird guard fitted to keep them at bay, once they start they usually don’t give up until your chimney is full of twigs from bottom to top!
We now also offer a 4K drone survey service, this can be very useful in finding leaks on chimney stacks or anywhere else on the roof for that matter. It’s much safer than having to climb up there to find them, it won’t cause any damage to the slates or tiles and works out cheaper too. Photos and video footage can then be sent over to you after for your future reference.

ABOUT US
Slaters Chimney Services began in 2020 after Tom took over a small, part time sweeping round from his Uncle. This was a change from his previous career as a car mechanic and MOT tester of 12 years but many of the practical skills he had from working on cars and using hand tools were very transferable.
Since then Tom has grown the business to a full time career and has also taken on two other rounds from local chimney sweeps that have retired or moved on from the trade.
We understand that when dealing with tradespeople there are three main things you want from them; good communication, reliability and high quality work. At Slaters Chimney Services these come first and foremost.
It’s not always easy to answer calls when on a roof or with hands covered in soot, so please leave an answer phone message and Tom will call you back as soon as possible, alternatively you can complete the Contact Us form below.
